Our catalog is alphabetically organized by type of computer
operating system (Apple II, Mac, IBM PC or MS-DOS, Windows [3.1
 & 95]) and, within  each operating system, divided by subject
matter.  You will find a description of the programs, any special
requirements, and a grade level suggestion to help you decide
which programs are suitable for your students and yourself.

WHAT IS SHAREWARE, PUBLIC DOMAIN, FREEWARE, & THE WiseGorilla mission?

Shareware is an exciting marketing method which allows you to
try top-quality software before you pay the author.  With
Shareware you cannot be disappointed by spending money to buy a
program that's not right for you.  The small fee you pay to us
covers only our library maintenance and distribution costs, and
enables you to evaluate these fine educational programs.

If you continue to use the program, you must send the author an
additional payment which may entitle you to technical support,
printed manual, bonus programs, and more.  Your payment supports
authors, enabling them to continue writing newer and better
Shareware programs.

Information about registering your program is included on the
disks you receive.  In order to keep these talented people
producing low cost, high quality, software we urge you register
the Shareware you use.  This Shareware marketing system will
continue to work only if people are honest enough to  maintain
this honor system of payment.  Our Shareware programs are
labeled [sw].

In the case of Public Domain software the authors have donated
the fruits of their efforts to be used freely by anyone who
finds it beneficial.  Our Public Domain programs are labeled [pd].

Freeware is copyrighted software that the authors have allowed
to be freely copied and distributed,  but they do not allow
their programs or files to be changed in any way.  Our Freeware
programs are labeled  [fw].

Hate demo's? . . . those crippleware programs that tease you with
what a program might be, but don't give you the necessary
functionality to try it out to find out for yourself whether
Šyou really like the program?  So do we.  That is why we have
NO DEMOs in our library.  All the programs in our library do
what they are intended to do.  Those of you who feel the need
to be cheated can go to your local computer store and buy
commercial software.  That's the kind where you first spend
lots of money, (mostly to cover the fancy box and the related
marketing costs).  Then, before you try it but as soon as you
take off the shrink wrapping, it's legally yours -- you may
NOT return it.  Can you imagine buying a car or clothes that way?

OUR MISSION IS TO PROVIDE THE BEST SOURCE OF AFFORDABLE
EDUCATIONAL SOFTWARE IN THE KNOWN UNIVERSE.   The fee we are
charging is a distribution fee, which covers our costs of
tracking down, acquiring, reviewing, cataloging, maintaining,
marketing -- and guaranteeing --  the titles in our library.
You are not buying the software (the actual code) from us.
We have meticulously performed these task to ensure that all
our programs are of the highest quality and are easy to use.

YOUR COMPUTER

Your IBM-type computer's monitor may be text only, monochrome
graphics, or, in increasing resolution and color,  CGA, EGA, or
VGA (and, most recently, SVGA).  Unless otherwise noted, the
programs below can be used with machines that have at least 512K
of RAM, one disk drive and monochrome graphics and above. The HD
means a hard drive is needed. Programs requiring CGA will also
run on EGA or VGA machines.  Programs requiring EGA will run on
VGA machines. Programs labeled VGA will also run on SVGA.
These programs are distributed and will run on double sided,
double density, 3.5", 720 Kbyte diskettes unless otherwise stated.
Those of you with older machines that need 5.25" floppies can
request that we send the programs on that medium.  Those
downloading the software need not be concerned with all this.

Our Windows program require Windows 3.1 or Windows-95, VGA color
graphics, and at least a 386 or newer type machine with 4 megs
of memory.  If you order these programs on disk from us, they
come on 3.5", 1.44 Mbyte  high density diskettes.

Our Apple II programs will run on the early II+ version (64K of
memory), the more recent IIc and IIe (128K of memory), or the
most recent IIgs (lots more memory, plus enhanced sound and
graphics).  Unless otherwise noted, the programs below can be
used with all versions, but do not take advantage of all the
IIgs' capabilities. Those requiring 128K, not just 64K, are so
noted.  Also, programs can be used via the keyboard alone unless
we note they require a joystick.  We use joystick & gamepaddle
synonymously. Apple II programs are available on 5.25" disks
only. (If anyone needs to be able to download them, let us know.)

Our Macintosh programs will run on any Macintosh with at least 1
meg of RAM, one 800K (low density) floppy drive, and System 6.0 or
above, unless otherwise indicated.  They come on 800K, 3.5" low
density disks.  They may not work on 512K or older machines.
You will need to have HyperCard 2.0 or above to run the programs
Šthat require HyperCard.   Newer Macintosh computers come with
HyperCard (HyperCard Player) already installed.  Programs that
require HyperCard are marked with H*.

BE SURE TO ORDER SOFTWARE WRITTEN FOR YOUR PARTICULAR COMPUTER.
Apple II software will not run on Macintosh or IBM-type
computers and visa versa.  We guarantee that each program does
what the description says it will do.  However,  problems
occasionally arise due to system incompatibilities and so forth.
Not to worry!  You may return the diskette within 30 days for an
exchange or refund.  Remember --  we guarantee you'll be
satisfied with our software collection!
